ACTIVITIES
“The Mystery Handshake”
Objective:
Help you introduce yourself to the class in a fun and engaging way, fostering a sense of community and comfort among your classmates right from the start.
Materials Needed:
- A set of index cards
- Pens or markers
- A container to hold the cards
How to Play:
- Preparation (5 minutes):
- At the beginning of the class, a container will be placed with the index cards at the front.
- The Mystery Handshake (15 minutes):
- You will draw a card from the container without showing it to your classmates.
- Once everyone has a card, walk around the room, performing your mystery action or handshake with each classmate you meet.
- When you meet your new classmate and perform your actions, you briefly introduce yourself with your name, one hobby or interest, and one fun fact about yourself before moving on to meet another classmate.
- The challenge is for everyone to remember as much as they can about their classmates.
- Class Reflection (10 minutes):
- After everyone has met, you will gather in a circle.
- You will be asked to share one interesting thing you remember about a classmate you met today. This reinforces memory and attentiveness.
“Class Charter: Aims and Ambitions” Collage (20 minutes)
- Objective: Set collective goals and individual ambitions for the year.
- Activity: On a large poster board or digital platform, you will contribute with images, words, or symbols that represent your goals and ambitions for improving your English. This could include specific skills you want to master or experiences they wish to have.
