Regions & Economic System
- Key Regions: Americas (including Caribbean islands, most of South America, Central America, and parts of North America), parts of Asia (Philippines), and Africa.
- Economic System: Depended heavily on the encomienda system, which granted colonists the right to the labor of local Indigenous people for mining and plantation agriculture. This evolved into the hacienda system.

RELIGIOUS & GOVERNMENT
- Religious Influence: Catholicism played a central role, with efforts to convert Indigenous peoples through missions and the establishment of churches.

Government: Highly centralized under the Spanish Crown, with administrative divisions such as viceroyalties and audiencias.

- Portugal (1500):
- Key Regions: Brazil, parts of Africa (Angola, Mozambique), Asia (Goa, Macau, Malacca), and strategic trade posts along the Indian Ocean and the East Indies.
- Economic System: Initially focused on trade, particularly in spices, gold, and slaves, before developing sugar plantations in Brazil that relied on African slave labor.
- Religious Influence: Catholic missions were established, but there was a stronger emphasis on economic and strategic goals.
