Andean America Women in the Colony
- White Women
- Role and Status: White women, especially those of Spanish descent, occupied the top of the social hierarchy in colonial Andean America. Their primary roles were within the domestic sphere, focusing on family and social duties, but they had more rights and privileges compared to indigenous and mixed-race women.
- María de Toledo, wife of Diego Columbus (son of Christopher Columbus), who played a significant role in the social and political life of Santo Domingo, representing the status and influence of white women in the colonies.
