Learning goals:

  • Students should be able to recognize and distinguish between stressed and unstressed syllables in words and sentences.
  • Identify common vowel sound patterns in stressed syllables.
  • Focus on long and short vowel sounds, diphthongs, and their variations in stressed and unstressed syllables.
  • Practice adding contrastive stress to specific words to alter the overall meaning of a sentence.
  • Demonstrate the ability to apply sentence stress and vowel sound knowledge in real-life communication scenarios.

Learning activities:
1.- Students are going to have a list of words in order to identify the stressed syllable in each word. Then students will practice saying the words with correct stress patterns.

2.- Students are going to work in activities from their books pages 52 – 53 in order to practice the stressed syllables.

3.- Teacher will encourage students to share experiences and insights related to stress in spoken English.
